The Black Book of Secrets by F.E. Higgins
Ludlow's parents have never been very good but when they try to sell his teeth for some extra money he runs away from them for good. He ends up in a small village working for Joe, a pawnbroker. Joe will buy anything from the people in the village but he specializes in buying secrets from them. As the people in the village come and reveal their darkest, most gruesome secrets, Ludlow's job is to write them down in the black book. As more and more people disclose their secrets it seems that many of them involve the town's worst resident and the villagers are waiting for Joe and Ludlow to do something to stop him.
