A Snicker of Magic by Natalie Lloyd

Felicity's mother has a wandering heart so they have moved every few months for as long as Felicity and her younger sister can remember.  Their latest move has brought them to Midnight Gulch, her mother's hometown, to live with her aunt.  Felicity can feel the magic that people say used to be everywhere in Midnight Gulch before the Threadbare brothers had a fight that drained the power.  Felicity loves the town, her aunt, her uncle who has just shown up as well, and her new friend Jonah who performs random acts of kindness and seems to see the real Felicity, not the one who gets tongue-tied so easily.  Now Felicity needs to figure out a way to break her mother's wandering heart curse and convince her to stay in Midnight Gulch forever.  I'm a fan of magical realism so I did enjoy all the bits of magic woven throughout this book and the way things all came together in the end.
