Texting the Underworld by Ellen Booraem

Conor's grandfather has told him stories about banshees and the afterworld his entire life but Conor has always assumed they are myths - until young banshee Ashling appears in his bedroom.  Ashling is there because someone is about to die and she is tasked with bringing the soul to the afterworld.  Conor is worried that Ashling has come to take away his beloved grandfather and decides that the only way to save everyone he loves from death is to force Ashling to take him to the Lady and make a deal with her himself.  His best friend Javier makes Conor take along his cell phone which has surprisingly good reception and proves to be very helpful.  Considering that this book had characters from nearly every mythology on Earth, there wasn't a lot of action.  Once Conor got to meet the Lady things picked up a little bit but then they all came back to regular life to see who would die.
