Vitro by Jessica Khoury

Sophie is on a mission to get to Skin Island after receiving an e-mail from her mother begging her to come as soon as possible.  Sophie used to live on a neighboring island when both of her parents worked on Skin Island working on a top secret scientific project but her mother seems mostly uninterested in Sophie's life now.  The only pilot Sophie can find who is willing to take her to the island is her childhood friend Jim Julien.  When the plane crashes, Sophie and Jim discover there is something dangerous happening on Skin Island, something that needs to be contained before the corporation can spread their research worldwide.  This book has a great premise and some exciting moments with the Vitros but didn't completely live up to its premise for me.  Still, it is a fun, not too deep read.
